Merry Halloween!
September 7, 2008
Combine Halloween and Christmas and what do you get? No, I don’t mean something in-between the two holidays like Thanksgiving and Black Friday! I’m talking ’bout Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, of course!
Digitally restored, the 15th anniversary 2-Disc Disney DVD is a collector’s edition. Not only does this set include the story about Jack Skellington’s (the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town) boredom busting mission gone awry that puts Santa and Christmas in jeopardy, but the bonus features are worth the price of admission alone!
Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour, short films and poems, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes info, and more are the extras with this new set. The 2-disc DVD and 1-disc DisneyFile set is priced at $32.99 and is availble now.
From the press release:
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Collector’s Edition is an ingenious and inspired
fable that cleverly mixes Halloween and Christmas for an eerily unexpected holiday celebration. The
film brilliantly combines stop-motion animation with three-dimensional sets and superb graphics to
create a stunningly original movie experience. With a Grammy® nominated soundtrack by Oscar®
nominee Danny Elfman (Corpse Bride, “The Simpsons”), Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before
Christmas: Collector’s Edition is a modern holiday classic.
Bored with his perennial role as Halloween Town’s frightening Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington
wanders off and discovers the cheerful village of Christmas Town. Determined to shake things up in
Halloween Town, he enlists the help of some mischievous trick-or-treaters to kidnap Santa Claus
and takes over the job of delivering gifts to the children of the world himself. When his plan goes
awry, Jack attempts to restore Santa to his rightful place. But first, he must rescue St. Nick from the
clutches of the evil Oogie Boogie!
Ariel’s Beginning
August 30, 2008
My girls love the original The Little Mermaid, and were thrilled to watch The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning, the prequel to The Little Mermaid.
From the press release:
The sea holds many deep secrets for young Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning, an all new, full-length movie coming exclusively to DVD on August 26, 2008. Available for a limited time only, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning takes audiences back to the story’s beginnings with favorite characters from the original film as well as a wonderfully wicked new villainess. With a score that continues The Little Mermaid’s legacy of memorable, life-affirming songs, the latest animated adventure from DisneyToon Studios will capture the hearts of all ages.
The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning takes place one year before Ariel meets Prince Eric. Young Ariel and her sisters share a love for music with their mother, Queen Athena. But when the Queen is captured by pirates, King Triton is heartbroken and bans music from Atlantica…FOREVER.
Ariel’s mission is to restore music to Atlantica, and she has a a beautiful music box with figurines of her parents onside. My girls are fixated on that music box, and ask me daily when they can have one. I sure hope that Disney plans to sell replicas in their online store, because I need two of them. Immediately.
Noodleboro Pizza Palace Will Teach Your Kids 2 Listen!
August 15, 2008
A book, an audio CD, and a game in one package, priced at $19.99!
The theme of this set (besides pizza!) is listening.
To play the game, your child has to listen carefully to the instructions throughout the game. Read the story book to them at bedtime, which teaches the value of listening and paying attention to instructions! Play the audio CD anytime so your kids can hear all sorts of silly songs.
Noodleboro is all about teaching kids life lessons and social skills. Listening and following instructions is a biggie! This game arrived at our house just in time. Listening is certainly a skill the girlies need to work on. I’m getting tired of repeating myself!
Perfect for age four and up. Two to three can play at once.
Hannah Montana Concert DVD
August 10, 2008
In just 9 agonizingly long days, the Hannah Montana 3D two disc concert DVD will be released for purchase! We had to see this one in the theater when every ticket was $15 a person, no matter what age or time of day. So, the $29.99 price tag for this set is quite a bargain.
Get a backstage inside look at the life of Mylie Cyrus, Hannah’s alter ego, as well as concert preparations and performances from the Jonas brothers.
My girls are crazy for Hannah and are gonna wear this DVD out! My 4 year old has less of an attention span for the concert in its entirety, but my 6 year old Miss P loves every minute of it.
This set is rated G and is available for preorder at Disney Shopping.
